How to attract money from long tail keywords in affiliate marketing

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Few of you might be seasoned professionals dealing in affiliate marketing and few are the beginners. But you must have frequently com across the term “long tail keywords”. This is a method to conduct an effective market research for the affiliate marketers who are keen on getting sales from the websites. Initially you may find the Long tail marketing complex but it can be fairly profitable for the affiliate marketers who are ready to use this marketing strategy constantly.

This technique is more about leniency. They do not target the wider market of single keywords. They concentrate on the small portions of the web traffic where the competition is pretty less.  Here the chances of drawing the attention of the customers towards your affiliate product goes high and the sales get noticeable boost. Now if you are intelligent enough to repeat the same procedure for many small niches likewise then no one can stop you from reaping good benefits out of the affiliate marketing incorporating the long tail keyword approach.
Now an example can be used in order to clarify the approach. Suppose you want to target the niche of the wedding favors. Now there are uncountable resources available here which will not allow you to make a mark for another few years. So the best way is to select sub topic which will make the competition less stiff. Now if you feel that the sub topic is again extensively exhausted, then the correct path should be picking up a small section like wedding cakes o gowns and explore it.

Now this is just to give you an idea how you can divide the niches into minute sections which will make it easy for you to work. Eventually you will find that the tinier the sections become, the longer are the keywords. They are the ones named as long tail keywords.  It is always advisable to choose your keywords according to the name, product id or item no of it. This will fetch you higher page ranking. The promotional campaign will cost you less if you can go for the pay per click techniques of affiliate marketing.

There might be a little bit of confusion in your mind that the long tail keywords will not bring more than ten visitors a day to your site. But as you re repeating the method and targeting quite a number of niches, each search will bring you around ten visitors and you will end up getting good mount of web traffic at your site.

Now the bottom line is that the number of long tail keywords and the respective sections are huge in number. They can work far more efficiently if chosen according to proper relevancy, than the big targeted areas and the small keywords or key phrases. As a matter of fact they can draw almost a million of visitors and make your business a successful one.  So take advantage of the long tail keyword marketing to earn more money from the affiliate marketing.

What Exactly is Search Engine Optimization?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

The term search engine optimization has not been fully defined in one simple sentence. This is because search engine optimization is made up of several components. However, our purposes we can to find search engine optimization as a set of methods used to improve the visibility of a website in the search engine listings. The goal is to rank number one in the search engine listings. You want to rank high in search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Seeing as Google is one of the most popular search engines out there, we will focus on how to improve your rankings in the Google search engine.

Google uses several factors to assess where your site belongs in the search engines results page (SERP). Google does this by using internal and external factors that surround your website. Internal factors are factors such as new content, outgoing links, header tags, and so forth. External factors is basically the number of back links, which is the number of other websites linking back to your page.

When you are creating your website it is extremely important to make the content relevant to your target audience. By grouping your content into different areas on your website, you can easily pick up lots of search engine traffic. This not only helps people find your website but it helps keep your website organized so that people will return to visit it and maybe even bookmark it for future references. Just having content on its own is not enough to rank high in the search engines. In order to rank high on search engines, like Google, it is important to continuously update your website and provide new content or new articles. Generally when someone designs a website they do not keep the idea of updating the site in mind. It is one of the most overlooked factors of search engine optimization. It is also probably one of the most important ways to rank high in the Google search engines and one of the easiest ways to build your page rank.

While building content is important to build your page rank and build your ranking in Google, it is less than half of the battle to achieving a high ranking in the Google search engines. The the rest of the battle involves link building. There are two ways to build your links there is internal link building and there is external link building. One of the easiest ways to quickly increase your page rank is to build inbound links to your site. this simply means having links throughout your website that link to each page this may be done with a site map or by simply having a table of contents. Once you have built up your inbound links you will want to focus on external links. External links is when somebody else links their webpage to your webpage. It is a bit like high school, the more popular you are the more friends you will have. In terms of websites the more people you have linking to your website the more popular your website will become.

As you can see a search engine optimization is something that takes time and work and requires you to create new content build inbound links and build external links. It is important to pay attention to detail and do all three of these things if you only do one or two of these things you may not get the desired results.

Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Optimization Tips, Search Engine Optimization Tutorial

Search Engine Optimization, popular in the web world as SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO techniques are used for web pages so that they are ranked higher by the search engines for targeted key word searches.

Some tips about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) are listed here:
» Provide Easy Navigational links that is linked to all your web pages you want to display
In order for any search engine to index all the pages of your site, it should be able to find them. An efficient navigation system is very important in this regard as explained in this article. Avoid using images, JavaScript or flash navigation links, because search engines look for HTML link tags for indexing.

» Content is Most important for SEO
Search engines index the content of a website, and the more content you have, the better. Add relevant content to your website.

» Use keywords in text, Heading Tag and Title of the page
In order to target keywords in searches, use the same keywords in the text. For example, an article on design layout will use the keywords design and layout instead of using architecture and templates. However, using the keywords repeatedly does not help either.

» Use synonymous phrases in title, meta tags and headers
Include related words and phrases in page titles, text, and header meta tags. This will expand the range of keywords that the web page might be listed under. Search engines value the page title, meta tags and page headers (within HTML <H1> tags) more than any text in the page.

» Order of keywords in Title and content
The order in which the keywords occur in your web page matters in the search rankings.

» Use descriptive links using key words
When linking to web pages within your website, use descriptive words in that link to describe that page. Advanced search engines use these words as the keywords defining the content of the page.

» Use key words in file names
Use the keywords that best describe the content of the web page to name the page. Use underscore ‘_’ between keywords. For example this page is named as seo_tricks.asp.

» Submit your site to search engines and directories
Submitting to search engines is not new to webmasters. However, follow all the rules and regulations of such submissions to each search engine. Your site may be rejected if it detects spam submissions of your website. Submit to relevant categories in popular manually edited internet directories.

Plan ahead for optimizing your website pages and choose the keywords correctly. Add value to your website so that visitors find it helpful and link to it from their WebPages. Allow some time before expecting results in the searches. No one can guarantee the top position in a search engine for your web pages.

Cash and Pay-per-click Affiliate Programs

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Millions are paying to get a ride on the Information Super Highway everyday. Now, it is widely known that the Internet is an accessible resource of many income-generating activities. Whether you belong to a private sales company or you are just interested in internet marketing, PPC affiliate programs can be a powerful venue to make money from the Internet. A partnership with an affiliate merchant is a win-win situation for the merchant and the affiliate: sales are soaring because of exposure and traffic while the affiliate is earning good cash.

To make things much simpler: the affiliate merchant provides a strip of advertisement and pays you when someone clicks on the ad’s link. You can get a commission of $0.10 to $0.30 for every click, but it sometimes it can go higher depending on your merchant affiliate. Sometimes, merchants require a quota ($1.4 for every 1000 clicks). Plus, you can get discounts from your merchant affiliates if you happen to like their products too. You can just kick back and relax while your website is generating cash. Sounds easy, doesn’t it?

What is PCC Affiliate Program?

PPC means pay-per-click, wherein you get in partnership with an affiliate company that literally pays you for every click. There are actually two types of PCC affiliate programs – those who pay a commission based on the number of clicks and the other based on the sales. The pay-per-click scheme is much more popular than pay-per-lead because the affiliate gets paid by just clicking the ad, regardless of whether the visitor buys from the affiliate merchant or not. Plus the chances of a visitor purchasing something from the affiliate merchant are not really that high.

In choosing an affiliate program, read the fine print carefully – some pay-per-click programs get the ratio of the number of people who went to your site and the actual people who clicked on the ad. If you have a heavily targeted website, this can hurt your earnings.

How do I start?

Of course, you need to have a website. Depending on your target audience, choose the best affiliate merchant that is most related to your topic. For example, your website is about Carpentry then you can search for affiliate programs that sell tools used in carpentry.

However, if you don’t have a website, that’s not a problem. You can put up a content site about absolutely anything under the sun like ‘Taking Care of Dogs’ or ‘Decorating your own Home.’ But wait, its not over yet. We are faced by a dilemma – on how to increase traffic! You first need to get internet surfers to see your website, then the ad.

How do I increase my traffic?

First, design your website in such a way that it will attract internet users. A user-friendly site is always recommended so that the customers will know which one to click. Take into consideration the look and feel of the advertisement. If it doesn’t look professional, most likely, users will just ignore it. Place the ad on a strategic location – one where users can see it clearly. Visibility of the ad is always important.

Another way is to post a link to your website in forums, web communities, ezine articles or bulletin boards. However, this method requires a lot of effort – that defeats your purpose of getting easy money in the first place! The key is to do something once and forget about it. It’s like putting your business on autopilot. To maintain you pay-per-click business, be sure to track down site activity, so you are updated on how much money you are making.

Can I make more money?

If you think you can go to the next level, you can try a two-tier affiliate program. This gives you the power to recruit affiliates. Other than the money you get from your website’s clicks, you will also get a percentage of what your affiliate generates. Some companies give 30% to a soaring 50% commission on all referral sales.

Remember, you should be able to manage and monitor your affiliate program. If you can recruit more affiliates, then you can get paid more without even moving a finger! Choose affiliates that can most likely attract more internet users and bring more traffic. You just have to know the right people.
