Don’t think you can do this in an hour, or a day! It’s quite a bit of work just to find good, potential targets. Here’s a bonus… when you have your finished your first wave a link possibilities, here’s great way to give it a solid foundation.

Find some relevant directories to list with. Directories of a given theme will have many, many similar links pointing to it. Directories are usually considered to have Authority. (It’s not uncommon to have to pay a fee for the good ones anyway.) Try to find a directory of pumpkin farms and pumpkin recipes to build your other links upon.

Another bonus. Avoid this mistake at all costs! Do NOT link to Link Farms or Free for all sites or any sites that will give you 1000 links for $10. These are not directories, but collections of completely unrelated links that exist solely to try to boost search engines rankings. Search engines ban many of these sites. The consequences of being listed with a banned site could ban you, and then you’re doomed. The only way to succeed is to build your links honestly and strategically with a plan and method.

Note: Search engines give more weight to one-way links rather than reciprocal links. i.e. links that link to your site without asking for one in return. The easiest way to get these is to buy them. This plan will work on all the different kinds of links you can get.

So now you have some potential sites to link to. In the next article learn how to phrase your link for maximum effectiveness. The sites to link with is only the first half… the quality of the words you use that make up the link’s content called anchor text are just as crucial! Google uses several factors to assess where your site belongs in the search engines results page (SERP). Google does this by using internal and external factors that surround your website. Internal factors are factors such as new content, outgoing links, header tags, and so forth. External factors is basically the number of back links, which is the number of other websites linking back to your page.

When you are creating your website it is extremely important to make the content relevant to your target audience. By grouping your content into different areas on your website, you can easily pick up lots of search engine traffic. This not only helps people find your website but it helps keep your website organized so that people will return to visit it and maybe even bookmark it for future references. Just having content on its own is not enough to rank high in the search engines. In order to rank high on search engines, like Google, it is important to continuously update your website and provide new content or new articles. Generally when someone designs a website they do not keep the idea of updating the site in mind. It is one of the most overlooked factors of search engine optimization. It is also probably one of the most important ways to rank high in the Google search engines and one of the easiest ways to build your page rank.

While building content is important to build your page rank and build your ranking in Google, it is less than half of the battle to achieving a high ranking in the Google search engines. The the rest of the battle involves link building. There are two ways to build your links there is internal link building and there is external link building. One of the easiest ways to quickly increase your page rank is to build inbound links to your site. this simply means having links throughout your website that link to each page this may be done with a site map or by simply having a table of contents. Once you have built up your inbound links you will want to focus on external links. External links is when somebody else links their webpage to your webpage. It is a bit like high school, the more popular you are the more friends you will have. In terms of websites the more people you have linking to your website the more popular your website will become.

As you can see a search engine optimization is something that takes time and work and requires you to create new content build inbound links and build external links. It is important to pay attention to detail and do all three of these things if you only do one or two of these things you may not get the desired results.

If you are placing the exact same title and meta description on all of your page as the keywords will not match up correctly and it will be harder for your page to be optimized and picked up by search engines under your keyword of choice. The second major mistake people make is that they use a splash page is a homepage. This is in fact bad marketing because, whether or not you are optimizing your website or wanting to appeal to your visitors, your homepage is the most important page on your website and it should contain content relevant to your site and links to other pages on your site. It is simple to not have a splash page and although they do look pretty, they are not practical.

The third thing that people do is that they forget that content is key. Once you have built up your website you continuously want to update it. Search engines absolutely love the new content. In fact it is believed that you can reach a page rank of two or three by simply adding new content once a day or more. What sometimes happens is people get too focused on tidying their content that they forget to create new content. Also when creating new content, do not just right for the search engine’s sake, write for the visitor’s sake. You want users to come to your website so that you can build up your traffic.

The last mistake that people make is that they stop optimizing their page once they see results. It is important to know that search engine optimization is an ongoing process. Every single day you have competitors that want to rank high as well. If you stop updating your site or stop optimizing it, those competitors to rank higher than you just by keeping their sites continuously optimize. So it is a good idea to always be optimizing your site and adding new content.

With this knowledge you will be able to run a successful website that is fully optimized. It is important to always remember these things because while they are simple, they are very easy to forget. It is up to you as a webmaster to keep up your search engine optimization and achieve success.

Search Engine Optimization Consideration

Search Engine Optimization, popular in the web world as SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO techniques are used for web pages so that they are ranked higher by the search engines for targeted key word searches.

Some Consideration about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) are listed here:
The Title tag is most Important
The Title Tag is the single most important piece of content for people who search.
Keep it short: Don’t have more than 60 characters (with spaces), which is roughly 8-10 words.
Lead with the most important word for that particular page. Always start off with what is specific about the page and move to what is general. Many websites begin their title with their brand or organization name, and then follow with what is unique about the page.

The description tag is recommended
The description tag is not nearly as important as the title. However, it does have some value. Write it as a summary and keep it under thirty words. It should be written in a compelling, clear manner.

Light pages, and lean, quality HTML
The less HTML code you have, the better, as it makes it easier and faster for the search engine to index your page. Aim for a total page weight of 50 KB for any page (that’s including graphics). Certainly, anything over 100 KB is going to be slow, and some search engines don’t like pages that are over 100 KB.

Have a site map/index
People like site maps/indexes, and so do search engines. Make sure that the site map is available from the homepage, that it is presented in a text-based format, and that it is kept up to date.

Avoid Flash Links
There nothing against Flash design except for the fact that I generally detest it. It’s such a waste of time; fourth rate TV advertising by people who will never get the chance to do a real TV ad. Search engines don’t like Flash either, and find it very hard to index Flash-based pages.

Build your website in static HTML
You don’t need a “dynamic” website unless you have dynamic content, such as airline seat availability and pricing which needs to be dynamically published from a database because it constantly changes. You may store your website in a database but you’re better off publishing it as a static HTML website. It’s cheaper, the pages will download faster, and search engines will find it easier to comprehensively index your website.

Avoid PDFs
One of the sure signs of a badly managed website is that it has lots of PDFs. Publishing content in PDF is usually a shortcut. Search engines have got better at indexing PDFs but it is still recommended that you publish a heading and summary in HTML.

Avoid frames
Frames are a very bad idea.

Watch your JavaScript
Any links that you have in JavaScript should also be published in HTML, otherwise the search engine won’t be able to follow those links. Rollovers are cool but they cause nothing but problems, so unless you have a brilliant technical team, avoid them.

Alternative text for Images
As a rule you should have alternative text for every single image. However, the only alternative text that search engines recognize is for those images that are linked. Make sure you use descriptive, keyword-rich text.

Keyword tags
Over the years, some websites tried to trick search engines by stuffing keyword tags with lots of popular words. Because of this, most search engines give very little value to keyword tags
